~Inspiration~

My brain is filled with thoughts on inspirations and dreams.  The things that move us, inspire us, the things we dream about while comparing prices on toilet paper in aisle twelve.  Those things.

I’m one of those who are easily inspired.  Which would be awesome if I had the motivation to ever follow through, but my inspiration always falls short of actual follow through… I’m a dreamer with a huge imagination that takes little to inspire it.

My current work in progress is all in thanks to an afternoon of Man vs. Wild re-runs and one PBS special on horseback riding through Denali National Park.  And doesn’t that all just scream a tangled web of vampires and broken hearts?  At least that’s safer than actually being dropped off out of a helicopter onto the top of Denali… right?

And why is it that inspiration always shows up when you’re in the middle of driving 65 mph on a super busy highway while your kids screams for a dropped pacifier?

What inspires you?  What dreams do you have?  Are you a go-get-em type of person or do your prefer to sit back and daydream in the safety of normal life?

  1. What inspires me? I guess it has to be people. Everyone is interesting, everyone has an interesting experience to narrate. People are so much like books in that way.

  2. I get my best ideas in the bathroom, sad but true. I believe I may need to install a computer station in there.

    • I actually do keep a notebook in the bathroom… doesn’t quite turn out when an idea flashes mid shampoo… unless you like your notebook all soggy and smeared, lol.

  3. I’m a daydreamer. I’ve built an entire bookstore (that I run) in my head. It’s quite an excellent store and I would road-trip to shop there. But my bookstore will live only in my head, and I’ll just keep going to work there as I drift off to sleep.

    • Oh me too! Mine has a coffee shop, a bar, a craft section and a cafe… I go big. lol.

      • I have a large, well-lit loft space where people can “rent” (for free) tables and easel space for up to 4-hour stretches twice weekly. And a recording studio in the basement. And an adjoining pub. And two dogs and a cat. And…best of all…a daycare. For those shoppers and/or artists who need to drop the kids off so they can breathe and shop and create.

  4. Good golly, I’m a freakin’ whirling dervish of inspiration! What I lack is the follow through. I’ve been inspired to do many thing, but once I’ve completed one part of it, I lose interest. HOWEVER, many of the things I’ve done have contributed to who I am now, my character, compassion, etc. So…I am both an armchair dreamer and Do-er. Mostly the former, though…to be honest. I’m inspired by photos, song lyrics, books, movies, my own imagination. And, gosh, my dreams are as plentiful as they are fleeting. I want to do so much, but am having trouble getting over the hurdle that is my own damn self! Oy.
